1.            “ATEM Matters No 38” is here: https://www.atem.org.au/activities_newsletter.cfm .  Don’t miss it.  The cover is appropriately decorated with icicles as some of us are in the depths of winter here down south.  The contents are extremely interesting, even exciting in some parts.  Here are a few of the highlights: Jobs in Higher Education, New Audit Director at AUQA , Deakin University has a new VC, 2011 Tertiary Education Sector Benchmarking program, Higher Education Services News, Volcanic moments: Four practices for facing surprises with grace, Management-Issues - Henry Mintzberg on leadership versus management, Employment & Workplace Relations Guide 2010: a summary of the key laws affecting Australian employers, Exiting senior staff: redundancy and risks. The design work in “ATEM Matters” is exciting and a far cry from the drab gray text we started with years ago.

2.            A new event is being held at Melbourne Showgrounds in March 17-19, 2011. The School Resources Expo is a cross-industry event for professionals in tertiary, secondary, primary and early education.  The School Resources Expo is a showcase of the latest products, services and equipment for those that have the ability to make or influence a decision on purchasing and procurement for their institution.  The Event is open to administrators and managers of tertiary institutions and will feature the latest in technology, services and a wide variety of products. It would be of particular interest to purchasing officers.  The Event is free to attend for administrators and managers.
