Orientation To The Tertiary Education Sector - Melbourne
This program provides an introduction for people new to the sector, and those who want to learn more about how the sector operates. Participants will move from understanding the past and the origins of the universities in 640 BC and the TAFE sector in the Middle Ages, and of academic work and values, through to the present and current issues in which participants are immersed, to exploring the shape of some future scenarios for institutions and their staff. A final session will cover career development in higher education, in which participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and reflections about working in the sector.
This one-day program combines presentations with ample opportunities for discussion and networking among participants.
